UPDATE: Suspected arsonist torched bins and rubbish chutes in space of two hours
1:06pm Wednesday 22nd February 2012

Firefighters were called to ten fires this morning after a suspected arsonist torched bins and rubbish chutes in the space of two hours.
The fire brigade were first called just before 5am to a bin fire in Bowstead Court, Parkham Street in Battersea.
Within 10 minutes they were called to rubbish chute set alight around the corner in Selworthy House, Battersea Church Road.
Fire crews from Battersea, Wandsworth and Clapham were called to a further eight fires in the Surrey Lane area until 7.15am.
They also had to deal with blazes in nearby Winders Road and Westbridge Road.
Fires restarted in rubbish chutes in Shuttleworth Road and Surrey Lane, despite being put out by firefighters just minutes before.
Simon Jenkins, Battersea fire watch manager said: "Nobody was injured, they were all very small fires.
"They were put out quickly with fire hoses, they were more than enough to cope with a single bin fire.
"Obviously one person was responsible for starting 10 fires in space of two hours."
The police have been notified, no arrests have been made yet.
