Power cut in Southfields forces partial closures at Nuffield Health Fitness and Wellbeing Centre
11:43am Wednesday 1st September 2010

A power cut has forced the partial closure of a borough gym.
The Nuffield Health Fitness and Wellbeing Centre, in Southfields, appears to be the only building affected by a fault at a local sub station.
A spokeswoman for Nuffield Health said: “The club currently has limited electricity and lighting and as such the pool and fitness suite are closed to ensure member safety.
“However, the site is not fully closed and members can still enjoy the social areas of the club.
“We are working with EDF, the electricity supplier, to identify and rectify the issue as quickly as possible.”
A spokeswoman for EDF said: “A fault on the electricity distribution network interrupted supplies at 10.11pm last night.
“Access to the property concerned was not possible after midnight so engineers attended site first thing this morning to investigate.
“Our engineers identified a fault on the underground network which is likely to need excavation and repair.
“Work is progressing today to reconnect power supplies as swiftly as safely possible.
“We realise how difficult it is being without electricity and we apologise for the inconvenience this is causing.”
